Worst. Subject. Invented.

"Mathematics was invented for mathematicians." - Copernicus

Yes. That is EXACTLY who it was written for. Guess what? I'm NOT one. And I'm pretty sure most of us aren't (no offense). So why are we forced to do it?? It's like reading a letter not meant for us. Unbelievably rude.
Whoever made it a requirement for school has gotta get out of their house sometime. See how the world really works. I have honestly never seen a day where I've actually had to use algebra. I mean, I can understand basic math, like 1+1=4 (haha, joke.. sorta), but why make us learn the more complicated stuff that, let's be honest, we hardly ever use and even if we do, it's too long and complicated for most of us to understand TO use.
Math should be outlawed as an offensive subject created for the sole purpose of teachers to torture their students.

The Only Way You'll Get Me

I've been thinking lately about what I'm looking for in a guy. Even though everyone around me has been dating numbers of people, I've never seemed to be that interested in it. I tried to convince myself that I was, and I actually think I may have been at one point, but if it really came down to a guy asking me out, I'm pretty sure I would have said no. Because it sickens me to think about going into a nonchalant relationship like that. I'm not saying the first guy I date HAS to be the one, and we have to be intending to marry in a couple months. THAT sickens me. But I'd like to know that the relationship is going somewhere meaningful.
Probably the basis of a relationship like that is when two people respect the other as a human being. The usual relationships you see in public schools are just based off of selfish interest, such as what they can get out of the person. I want someone who doesn't look at me and all they see is a woman's body--they need to see me. By 'me,' I mean my personality and what's inside of me, and value that more than they value my looks.
More importantly, he has to love God. I always see the sayings like "I want to be your one and only," and "your number one," etc. But that is exactly why I don't want to hear. God has to be your number one, and if I take that spot, then any relationship we had will be ruined. I'm not saying this because I'm trying to preach at anybody, or I think I fit those requirements (because I don't). Believe me, if there's someone who hates "Christians" like that, it's me. But that is one thing I've learned from 2011. God always has to come first. After he comes first, and all you do is to please him and what he wants, then everything comes so easily, and even naturally.
On a more interesting note, here's an awesome list of ways to "win a girls heart" I got from this guy on YouTube. He's pretty much the most hilarious thing out there...
His list:
10. find out what she likes
9. encourage her
8. compliment her
7. get to know her family/friends
6. support your local chivalry
5. don't post cell phone mirror pics all over facebook
4. don't lay it on too thick
3. keep your hands to yourself (THE awesomest point me made. :))
2. make her feel safe
1. be her best friend

Things I'm Thankful For

I know this is super late, but I figured it´s better late than never, am I right? ;)

Well I was thinking, and I thought it'd be nice to make a list of the things I'm thankful for! Because I want to be cheesy right now. Deal with it.

1. Mom
I know we get into way too many fights, and too many times I treat you like I couldn't care less that you're my mom. But in reality, I couldn't ask for a better one. You're perfect in every way for me. Everything you do is to make sure me and Luke have a better life, and you do it all without a man by your side. Honestly, I don't think I'd survive in a situation like that. But you did, and still are, and you're the best role model I could hope for

2. Luke
Again, we have so many differences and get into pretty nasty fights sometimes... but I still wouldn't trade you for anyone else. You're the sweetest, caring brother when you want to be, and in your own way, but I know that deep down you care about me. So yes, I'm thankful for you.

3. My friends
I love everyone of my friends. They're always so supportive of whatever crazy idea pops into my head, or whatever I start raving about even if I realize later it was the stupidest thing ever. I'm so thankful for how you all stick by me even when I embarrass you in public. ;)

4. Life
I know I complain a lot, and sometimes I wish I'd never been born. But in the end, I honestly am so thankful for my life that God has given me. He's made me see so many awesome things I couldn't see before. And I understand that all these things he's putting me through are for the best--even if I can't see it at the moment. But in the end I know that it's all part of making me into the person I'm supposed to be. And to be honest, I get a little freaked out thinking about what in the world you've got planned for me... but that's ok. I'm ready to take on what's coming, because I know you won't test me beyond what I can handle.

5. Everyone in my life
I only just came to realize this now, but I'm actually thankful for all those wonderful, funny, hateful, annoying, pain the butt people God's put in my life.  Again, it's all part of what he's got planned for me. If all you disgusting and wonderful people never existed, I can never become who I'm supposed to be. Even though I have a hard time putting up with some people, or an amazing time hanging out with others, I'm actually really grateful that you're all in my life.

(I like this picture so much I'm going to put it on my blog. :D hah)

What's the point?

Ever stop and wonder what the purpose of your life is? Not just life, but YOUR life.

I have.

I don't see one.

Every single person I've ever met seems to fit in this world. They know what they want, know how to get it, and know how to relate to the people around them. I just don't get it. I never have. I've tried as hard as I can, but I can't make any sense of how people think.

I wonder if I was meant to die young.

I can't see my future.

I've never met anyone I could ever see in my future.

It's a blank.

Complete. Blank.

And I ask myself, why am I here? I've never helped anyone, or made an impact in anyone's life.

What's the point of my life?

Am I just some play thing made for entertainment purposes?

If so, what's so entertaining?

Who Will You Let Run Your Life?

Have you ever noticed how popular, pretty girls can make your life miserable? It's as if they have the power under their fingers to turn the whole world against you if they have any small reason to dislike you. Most of the time you don't even know what you did wrong... if you did anything wrong at all.

Who gives them the right to even be able to do that? In my opinion, it's the ones that so badly want to be liked by them.

They're the gullible ones who believe anything a popular girl has to say about someone, even if they have every reason to believe it isn't true.

They're the ones who say they hate how stuck up those girls are, but if it seems that they're starting to get accepted into the "In" crowd, they jump at it.

And they're the ones who allow themselves to be run by some girls who think they have it all.

Why do they let themselves be manipulated, then?

Either because they're too stupid to notice, or because they're so obsessed with being liked, even for a day, that they'll do it anyway.

You might now be thinking, "Ha ha, wow, they're so stupid." when in reality, we don't realize how easily that could happen to you. It may not happen in such a simple way as that, but there's other ways you kiss up to people.

Next time you realize you want to be liked by someone, and you're doing silly stuff because you're so desperate for they're acceptance, stop and think. Do you really want to be like those people who suck up to someone just because they're pretty, or have a lot of friends? Is that how shallow you want to be?

If that person doesn't like you, then it's their loss. I can honestly say, without knowing who is reading this, that you've got so much more worth than whoever that person might be. You're better than them because you're able to find you're own way without the satisfaction of knowing people are willing to kill themselves for you to like them. Because you know who you are.

Again, who says the popular person has got the worth they're treated as having? Who set them above all other people as the perfect role model in life?

Think before you start letting someone run your life.

Figure out if they're worth it before you do.

I'm 15 for a Moment

♫ I'm 15 for a moment
Caught in between 10 and 20
And I'm just dreaming
Counting the ways to where you are ♪

I couldn't resist.

But honestly, is it not creepy that Luke happened to play this song while we were riding in the car tonight? It isn't like he's the most thoughtful guy out there. Oh well, I suppose I should take good things as they happen and not figure out where they came from...

Well, goodbye 15. Farewell, and adieu. It's been fun. Really. I always say that 13 was the best age I ever lived... but I think it's just been changed to 15. Even though a lot of things didn't turn out the way I wanted them, and I still got hurt, it still turned out good by the end of it all. I suppose it's the way you look at the years which makes you love or hate them.

Don't get me wrong, though. Bring on 16! I've been waiting for this time my whole lifee. Granted, in my small child's brain I had some notion that I would somehow get married at this age (I was a child with high expectations). Now that I'm here... I can't imagine what I was thinking. That would be... creepy. To say the least. Not even legal, actually.

Anyhow, here's to 16. Hope it's the craziest, excitingest, awesomest, bestest year yet!

Chers.

Books and Birthdays!

Before school starts, I've been commanded by my teachers to read a few books from my reading list during the summer. They say it's supposed to help lighten my load, but I have a feeling they're trying to force their ideas of year-round schooling on their students... (haha)

But I must say, at least they didn't choose the horrid books from the list; although, in my opinion, Frankenstein certainly tends to lean toward that category. Instead, I get to read the Narnia books again! Not all of them, thankfully, (considering my school schedule), just the first three.

I just finished The Magician's Nephew today. Now, I know what you're thinking: "It took her THAT long to read just two books??" All I have in response to that is one question: do you know me?

You would not believe how refreshing it is to read The Magician's Nephew again. Seeing as how I was only ten last time I read through the series, and I was trying to go through them fast. There are so many little things I didn't pick up on.

For instance, during my daydreaming moments I've been wondering how cool it would be if someone wrote a book based on (note that I said 'based on') what might have gone on between God, his angles, and the Devil before the creation of the Earth, how evil actually entered if God couldn't actually make it (since he can only make good things), and so on. Something like Paradise Lost, I suppose.

How did I not realize that all this time there's been something just like that, right under my nose?? The Narnia books!

I know that C.S. Lewis specifically states that he did not write the books for that purpose, and he does not claim that Aslan is actually personified as God, etc. (I don't remember where I read this, so I'm just going by memory. I might even have it all wrong.) So I'm not assuming that Narnia is in fact C.S. Lewis's version of Heaven, or a version of Heaven at all, and so on. But I think how he wrote the books is so beautifully similar to how our World may have come to be created. It's a beautiful picture either way.

I'm not one to cry easily, especially with books, but so many times I got misty eyed because of the picture C.S. Lewis gives us of God. Not just His attirbutes, but reminding me that there is a bigger picture than just the jobs we're sent on, or the pain we're put through, and He understands. He's crying along with us.

Bottom line, I pretty much love the character of Aslan and how he resembles God's loving and noble nature. :)

Before I wrap this up, a quick shout out to Molly!! Haappy 16th Birthday!!!!! You're an amazing amazing friend and I love you sooo much! You're personality, your laugh, and everything about you is just amazing. Don't ever change♥ :)))

Also, I've started another blog. Don't know if it's going to get to be much, but here it is. Feedback is appreciated!

Maturity

As young kids we are forever figuring out our boundaries. What we're allowed to do. Or better yet, what we're able to do. Once we realize that Mom and Dad don't control our actions as much as we used to think, we start testing our abilities to see how far we can go.

Sometimes, those kids never out grow that urge. Sometimes they just keep pushing and pushing the boundaries set by their parents until they're broken and well forgotten.

And This is where the true challenge beings.

The challenge of knowing when to STOP pushing those boundaries. When to know you've pushed too far. The moment you've had enough of a taste of the world to pull back. Pull back and stop.

This is where maturity begins.

It's not the amount of knowledge you have about a school subject, or when you've been accepted by everyone around you. It's about when you know it's time to stop. To chose what you will allow yourself to do.

Maturity is when you've set the boundaries for yourself. Not just because someone told you it's right--but because you KNOW it's right.

It's when you're able to stop your own self and ask: how far am I going to go?

That's where maturity begins. And this is what I'm starting to learn(:

Summer has trials... Who knew?

Summer's almost over and I'm still wondering, when do I get my summer vacation?? I'm still stuck at home cleaning, ordering school books, reading school books...ukk ):

Speaking of school books... who thought of putting Frankenstein on my school reading list? I'm more than half-way through (finally) and can't standd reading it. It's not that it's bad writing--believe me, it's far from that--but I have to highlight alll these random sentences and answer 20 in-depth-think-about-it questions per chapter. All I want to do right now... is burn it. Yes. Burn it. That way I can finally use the old "the dog ate my homework" excuse!

But, I don't want to leave anyone depressed, or think that I'm depressed :P. So on the upside, even though we haven't gone on a family vacation, I've got to do fun camps like drama and volleyball, and get to hangout with my friends a lot more often than during the school year. In that way, my summer has been pretty fun in spite of no actual time away from home. (:

Oh yeah. I still want to burn Frankenstein.

Sickness and Doctor's Masks

Weellll we're all sick here. Mom has a serious sinus infection, Luke has mono, and I have pneumonia. It's a joy--really. -__- Especially since Mom might be coming down with mono too. I'm next!!! o.o

See, Mom got kind of concerned on Tuesday when she finally listened to me and found out I had such a bad sore throat that I could barely swallow. She took me to the doctor and found out I had the beginnings of pneumonia, so I got some medicine, blah blah blah. Besides the first day, I feel SO much better now, and think I'm almost 100% better.

Buuut..... Mom and Luke are still sick. Mom's been going kind of up and down--the first day she thought she would be too sick on Sunday to make the Sloppy Joes (we're having our first fellowship meal with the new mission work this Sunday), so she sent them to someone else to make. Then she felt better so she started making the salad.

Well this morning I was like super hyper and cleaning my room (don't ask how those two things mix...) and I was bringing some stuff downstairs when I look up and my mom's literally standing in the hallway with a doctor's mask on and I SWEAR TO GOD she looked like this:

Minus the gun....

And I'm all like:

Anyway, sorry for not posting that much.... I was waiting for something interesting to come up with, like when we actually started decorating the house. After seeing how everyone's feeling...I don't think we'll be able to decorate this year. :(

November!!!! Holy--wow.

Wowza, haven't posted in almost two months. :o Sorrys... my schedule's been hectic.

Weellll... what's been going on with school? I've been writing a bunch of essays, and just started a biography on Guy de Maupassant. He's just another creepy writer that has no respect for women, and whose eyesight failed during his career, causing him to go mad and attempt suicide by cutting his throat, eventually causing him to go to a private asylum where he died (not so peacefully) in July 1893. Yeah. But he's french, so I put up with it. :D (Yes, I do have only a slight obsession wi--OMG THE BLUE ON MY BROWSER IS IN THE FRENCH FLAG!!!!!) He's also a brilliant writer, soo.. two pluses. ;)

I also might get a babysitting job on Friday!! But I haven't gotten an okay yet. The parents want to go to the conference at Sovereign Grace, but they haven't decided if they can or not. So anywaysss, if I do get the jobb Julia's gonna come help out. Gonna be funn. (:

Social life? Not getting much of that, but in October I went to the fair with my bestiee (: Only pics I got were of us holding the baby chicks, though. But we rode the fireball and it was EPICSAUCE!!! <33 Ignoring the fact that I've had back problems ever since buut... it was worth it. :P

Ignoring school and the clumps of hair that fall out when I brush ;), I'm SUPER stoked this week!! Only two more weeks of school till break!!! :D :D :D SO flippin psyched !! Check out the countdown widget. ;)

OH OH OH!! ANDD during break we're going to... guess? NEW YORK!!!!!!!!!! WOOHOO!! <3 For those of you that don't know, every year we go up for Thanksgiving and stay with my cuz. :)) Had a great time last year and can't waitttt to go this year!

Well that's preeetty much it!

Something I stole from somebody a long long time ago... and idk who it was.

Step 1: Put your iPod on shuffle (if you have a nano 4G just shake it)
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 20 songs that play no matter how embarrassing
Step 3: Bold over the songs that someone guesses correctly
Step 4: Looking up the lyrics on any search engine is totally cheating and that's not cool.

Sigh Molly... ruin the fun for everyone, why don't you? ;)

1. When I was younger I saw my daddy cry... The Only Exception - Paramore

Obituary

We are heartbroken to announce that Nails, belonging to Lily, passed away this afternoon.

Nails served honorably as close friends to Fingers, as well as its long-distance relations; Toes. Its parents, Hands, are devastated at their loss, and are in the process of being consoled.

Nails lived a short life; only one month, and we are disheartened at hearing that the possibility of Nails continuing its journey through life has ended so abruptly.

There are rumors that Violin was to blame, for in the past it forced Hands unwillingly to control the growth of their children. Nails was their first successful child to grow up healthy and happy for an extended time, after Violin mysteriously disappeared during the summer.

Before Nails’ tragic death, it was heard that Violin had come back, and was angered at hearing Hands had disobeyed his orders, so ordered them to take care of it.

This is but mere speculation; nothing is certain as the police are still investigating. Meanwhile, let us have a moment of silence in remembrance of Nails and its mourning parents…

I'm back... and tann!!

Yes, I am FINALLY making a post. :P

Well the beach was awesome!!! A little after we arrived, the Currins, Virginia, and us wanted to see if we could take some pictures of the horses, so we drove over to the beach they're known to be seen at. Buut.. we met this guy on the way there who said he was just down there and hadn’t seen anything. Apparently they don't show until 6am. -.-
But we did get to hang out at the beach and take pretty piccies. :)

The whole first half of the week (Monday-Wednesday) we went searching for the horses on the beach at 6am. And of course we didn't see any. :( The beach was so full I was really doubting we were going to see any anyway, because they would probably be scared by all the cars. :\

Luke was wearing his Corona jacket type thinget, and it kept billowing out behind him when we were riding in the back of the truck, so we poked it. :D hehe And Casey's American Red Cross shoes made interesting prints in the sand... ;P

There was also this humvee on the beach with a gun on it. Seriously. o_o
And that guy is way too tan. -.-

Tuesday Luke, Virginia and I went up on the Currituck lighthouse, with about 241 steps. ‘:| It was our second time, though, so it wasn’t as “amazing” as last time. ;) But it was still pretty cool.
We were fine with the height until Luke brought up how it would feel if we fell. -.-

When we got down, there was this pit thing at the center of the floor with like a million dollars in it!! 8O Okay, not really, but it was a freakin lotta money. :o

Before the Currins & VA left Wednesday afternoon, we went to this awesome aquarium. It was reallyy cool. It had a giant aquarium full of sharks and ginormous tuna that, from their tail to their head, they'd come up to over my knees. :o My camera has such a slow shutter speed I took a movie instead. :P

They also had this really cool touching tank with sting rays in it. 8D But I was too scared to touch it. * ahem * I couldn't tell how deep the water was. ....>.> Moving on..

So after the aquarium we went back to the beach house to find the Wills ransacking the place. ;) Wednesday and Thursday were both stormy all day, so we couldn't go to the beach. :( But Friday was finally clear, and the ocean was awesome and rough cuz of the rain. I'm very proud of myself too, cuz there were jellyfish all over the place but I still went in. ;P A few dozen waves even crashed on me with about 5 jellyfish in them, right on top of me. Aheh...

For the last night there, we got to go out to eat! We went to The Black Pelican, which was originally the first telegraph office on the Outer Banks.
I got steak. (haha, so original, ahem) I was going to get a plate with swordfish and shark, but I wasn't sure if I would like it, and I would have to finish it all so..yeah. :( But my mom got the swordfish special and I got to taste it. Sooooo good!!! :) It tastes like tuna. ;P

They had these super cool surfboards on the ceiling, and a huge stuffed swordfish hanging on the window. (Jeanna decided to lose this awesome pic I took of it, so I only have Julia's face pic of it. aHEM. ;P) My camera broke, btw. It got sand all in the lens and it keeps having this "lens error". >.< Ah well..

Home Sweet Home

I’m backk!! Some people think a 10 day break from the internet is good. Me? I don’t think so. :( With nothing to do but sit around and watch the fishing channel (Luke's choice x.x) all day... yeah.

Well, we did get to go to my cousin's house on Wednesday. Luke went with my cousin Bert (really my mom's, but we call him our cousin too...although I think of him more as an uncle :P) and his son (our "real" cousin ;) Gabriel to the range and shot skeet or something andd I stayed at their house and talked about colleges with my other "real" cousin Andrea. haha I have confusing family relations on my mom's side... :P

My grandparents have this wall full of pics of muah. >:D I'm just that special. I also found this really weeird pic on it. >.> I was one strangee child. You should see all the other pics they had in their photo albums... Scary stuffs. :s

Oh yah, I got a mani-pedi Friday!! :D Wuz funnn. hehe Everyone was horrified I picked bright blue to paint my nails cuz Cubans are into the natural colors. :P

And I made up my mind I’m gonna get a Scottie someday. :D While I was waiting, I played with the lady’s adorableee Scottie puppy, Onyx. <3 She has a basket of toys and when you throw her one, she catches it, waits for you to applaud, and then runs into the bathroom to put the toy on the rug. When the basket is empty you go to the bathroom and find all the toys on the rug. xD funneh. And she won’t go away until you’re really clapping enthusiastically. hehe It gets sorta tiring though. :P

Hmm... well going back to NC, I'm finally taking a babysitting class next Tuesday! Yey. Then I'm going to start asking around for jobs in our church. :) I wish I could take the CPR class around the same time too, but... actually I don't really know why I can't. o.O

Weell, must do stuffs around the house...

:o
